Piesa zilei: Tribute | Tenacious D

"Tribute" a fost prima piesă pe care Black și Gass au cântat-o live ca Tenacious D. Melodia, la fel ca multe altele înregistrate cu Tenacious D, a fost interpretată inițial în cadrul serialului TV de pe HBO.

Mesaj

În filmul Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, se sugerează că punctul culminant al filmului, o provocare muzicală rock între Satana și Tenacious D povestită prin piesa "Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown)", este incidentul relatat în "Tribute", iar partea din "Beelzeboss" interpretată de Tenacious D este melodia căreia i se aduce un tribut.

După ce îl înving pe Satana, Jack și Kyle își amintesc din nou incidentul, descriindu-l ca fiind "cea mai tare melodie din lume" (the greatest song in the world). Din păcate, nu își amintesc cum a fost.

De asemenea, în melodia "Beelzeboss", ei menționează că știu slăbiciunea demonului, denumită "Rocket Sauce", pe care o folosesc în serial pentru a-l învinge pe demon.

Despre trupă

Tenacious D este un duo american de comedie rock format în Los Angeles, California, în 1994. Trupa a fost fondată de actorii Jack Black și Kyle Gass, care pe atunci erau membri ai companiei de teatru The Actors' Gang. Numele duo-ului provine de la "tenacious defense" (apărare tenace), o expresie folosită de comentatorii sportivi de baschet NBA Walt Frazier și Marv Albert. 

Înainte de lansarea albumului de debut al trupei Tenacious D din 2001, duo-ul a avut un serial TV format din trei episoade difuzat pe HBO, episoadele fiind transmise între 1997 și 2000. Trupa a devenit prietenă și cu fostul baterist al Nirvanei, Dave Grohl, ceea ce a marcat începutul unei colaborări între Foo Fighters și Tenacious D. Spre sfârșitul anilor 1990, duo-ul a asigurat backing vocals pentru trupe rock mari precum Weezer, Pearl Jam, Tool și Beck.
